The President of the company has tasked you with selecting one developed and one developing country to expand into as a pilot project.

Sustainable Goods is a big box retailer who specializes in products, which are sustainable. Your company has been cited by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as the leading organization for the sales and distribution of sustainable products.

Democracy continues to spread throughout developing nations, yet some countries continue to rule under monarchies, communism, and other forms of government. As technology has continued to advance, the ongoing discovery of previously inaccessible minerals and other natural resources continues in developing nations, providing opportunities for significant economic changes within a country. So how does an organization that is considering expanding into the international market gain an understanding of the macro political and macroeconomic factors that may influence their decision on which markets to enter?

PART 2 (M2A1)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

You are the newly appointed Chief Operating Officer of the international branch of the organization. Sustainable Goods is considering which countries to expand into first. The President of the organization has tasked you with selecting one developed and one developing country to expand into as a pilot project.

Analyze the potential impacts of each of your chosen country’s trade agreements. You will be responsible for researching each country’s trade agreements (and/or pending trade agreements) and selecting which ones could have the greatest potential impact on Sustainable Goods’ decision to conduct business in that country.

Tasks

Write a 2–3-page paper addressing the following:

1. Research all of the existing, and any pending, trade agreements for each of your chosen countries. Select the top three trade agreements for each country that have the greatest impact on Sustainable Goods’ ability to conduct business in that country.

2. Analyze the potential impacts that the three trade agreements you selected will have on your chosen countries. Also, explain why you did not select other trade agreements. Justify your analysis.

PART 3 (M4A2)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

PROMPT

Analyze the two countries where Sustainable Goods is considering opening stores, you should understand the internal and external factors, which could influence the success of the new stores. A typical way for an organization to analyze these factors is using a Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis.

TASKS

After reviewing the video SWOT Analysis (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JmDXDZYx0s&feature=youtu.be), use the template provided (MS Excel file) to conduct a SWOT analysis for EACH of your two countries (developed and developing). Your SWOT analysis should be thorough, incorporate scholarly research, and potentially some quantitative analysis (i.e. – a projection of foreign currency exchange rates). Your deliverables include:

1. SWOT analysis matrix for EACH of your two countries using the template provided.

2. Written justification for each factor you included in your matrix. Justification should be supported by scholarly evidence (i.e. – peer-reviewed journal articles). For criteria that could include data as evidence, calculations should be incorporated into your analysis write-up (i.e. – you did a Monte Carlo simulation to determine the likelihood that gas prices would rise in the future, and you used this value as a potential threat – results of Monte Carlo simulation should be included in your write-up). You will provide a SWOT analysis for both countries. (MS Word document, 3–5 pages total APA formatted). Submit only one document for both SWOTs.

PART 4 (M7A1)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Tasks

Your final deliverable will include the following sections:

1. Title Page. Follow APA guidelines.

2. Background. Background Analysis for your two countries. This portion of your proposal should include content from M1A1 Initial Ideas and Research. You must include your revisions made to your document.

3. Trade Agreements Impact. This portion of your analysis should include content from M2A1 Final Project Milestone One. You must include your revisions made to your document.

4. SWOT Analysis. This portion of your analysis should include M4A2 Final Project SWOT Analysis Milestone Two. This will include a SWOT matrix. You must include your revisions made to your document.

5. Market Entry Recommendations. The final portion of your analysis shall include a recommendation, for each of your countries, whether or not to open a Sustainable Goods store there and what type of market entry strategy should be used. This portion of the report should be of sufficient length to make your recommendation and include scholarly evidence. Your recommendation cannot be to study the two countries further; you must decide whether to enter or not.

6. Reference Page. Follow APA guidelines and should include at least five scholarly sources.

7. Assignment Reflection. Provide the instructor the “Three Up and Three Down” for this Final Project and all interim deliverables. Three Up = three positive aspects of the assignment and Three Down = three negative aspects of the assignment. This portion of the project should be included after the Reference page.
